Over the last decade, more and more attention has been focused on surface run-off water, pollution and erosion problems in the United States. The EPA and many municipalities are putting together new restrictions for water management. The restrictions are especially prevalent in Coastal towns (like our friends on the Chesapeake Bay) that have to control their water run-off and polluting of the waterways.
One solution to decreasing the impenetrable surface area of a driveway or other paved area is to use permeable pavers. Permeable Pavers offer an environmentally friendly alternative to asphalt paving and concrete. Permeable pavers present a solid surface, but still allow storm water and pollutants (car oil, antifreeze, pesticides) to drain through in a natural, ecological process. The permeable pavers come in a variety of designs and colors for all types of applications (driveways, patios, walkways). So not only are you protecting the environment, but you can do it in a stylish and colorful way.
How does the Permeable Paver system work?
Water percolates through the holes in the pavers and flows into the open gravel base. The pavers are laid on a base consisting of a layer of small open gravel, which is set upon a deeper base of larger stone gravel about 8-12 inches thick. Through the natural cleaning process, water moves through the base, filtering out the pollutants and keeping them in the base and soil. Then the ground water is released back into the main watershed.

Is there 1 blade for my angle grinder that I can use to cut both asphalt and paver bricks for my walkway?
I am going to be laying a brick paver walkway (not large), and because of the curve pattern I am trying to attain, I will have to cut a few bricks (non-traditional cuts – i.e., not just cutting the bricks in half). The asphalt edge of my driveway will also need to be trimmed as it flares out at the bottom. The bricks will be perfectly flush along the length of my driveway, so I have to cut it perfectly straight down the length of my driveway (about 12 feet).
I have an angle grinder I want to use to cover both of these tasks. Is there 1 blade I can buy for my angle grinder to achieve both of these tasks? I understand that I will be meticulous in measuring and marking my cuts for the bricks and asphalt, but I want to find 1 ‘proven’ blade to do the trick. Thanks in advance!
depending on the diameter of the cuts i think you might find it difficult to ” cut ” the brinks and asphalt to the proper shape. if they will be large radius’ you should be fine. but for tighter corners i would use grinding disks made for granite. you can find them at marble and granite sales locations. then you can cut the bricks to the right length and ” grind” the edges to the proper curve. trying to cut an interior angle with any blade would prove difficult as the blade will not want to flex.
