Picture yourself dropping precious jewelry down the drain. You panic because you don’t know how to retrieve the precious items. You no longer have to worry because by following these simple steps you will be able to retrieve anything that you may drop down the drain. The only tools that you will need are a bucket, channel type pliers or a wrench. A sink drain has a U-shaped pipe directly underneath it called the P-trap. It is because of the P-trap that most items which fall into the drain can be retrieved.
You will need:
· Bucket
· Channel-type pliers
· Magnet
· Rubber gloves
· Scrub pad
· Soap
· String
· Tape for pliers
· Tongs
· Wooden spoon
· Wrench
Once an object has fallen down the drain, you must immediately turn off the faucet so that the object does not get washed pass the P-trap. Locate the P-trap, which should be directly underneath the sink. Be aware that older sinks have a drain plug that is located at the bottom of the P-trap. The drain plug was intended to make the cleaning of the P-trap easier. The drain plug is most likely too small for the fallen object to fit through.
Place the bucket underneath the P-trap in order to catch anything that should come out after you remove it. Use the wrench of channel-type pliers to loosen the P-trap’s slip nuts. By taping the end of the pliers it will prevent scratching the chrome pipes. When the slip nuts begin to become loose, discontinue using the wrench or channel-type pliers and continue loosening by hand. Once the P-trap is removed, allow the contents to fall into the bucket. There should be a fair amount of hair, slime and dirt gathered in the P-trap.
After the P-trap has been completely drained into the bucket, put on your rubber gloves. Put your hands into the bucket and search for the item that has fallen into the drain. If the item can’t be found, wash the P-trap with hot soapy water and remove any kind of buildup that may be hiding you item.
Once you have found the item, put the P-trap back in its place and tighten the slip nuts with either the wrench or channel-type pliers.
If you dropped an item down a sink that has a garbage disposal you should proceed with extreme caution. A garbage disposal can cause serious damage to anyone who sticks their bare hand into the drain. You can lose multiple fingers and be physically scarred for life. If the object can be seen in the drain, use a wooden spoon or tongs to retrieve the object from the garbage disposal.
If the object you dropped is magnetic, attach a magnet to a piece of string and try to retrieve the object that way.

I want to throw down flower seeds so that my entire lawn will be completely blanketed in flowers. Suggestions?
The problem is, it seems like most flower seeds have to be planted at least 1/2 an inch or more in the soil. Forget that! I just want to have buckets full of seeds that I can just THROW all over my yard, so that soon after, my neighbors will see my yard vomiting a tremendous carpet of flowers. I mean I want every bald inch of my front yard covered in flowers (mixed or not, whatever).
So, would I do this in early spring, or would I do it in the fall, and –> what flower seeds could I use? I’ll use bags and bags of flower seeds on my yard, as long as I can just throw them down (no digging, tilling, planting, etc). Just tell me what and when. I wish I could do it now (it’s almost autumn as of ‘now’), that would be great. If I can, let me know.
ZONE 6.
You’re not gonna like this, but it’s true. You have to kill the grass first. Honest. BUT. on the plus side, this is a good time to do it. Perfect really. Buy concentrated Round Up and mix as directed. Follow the instructions. Buy a sprayer if you have a good size lawn.
Next, just throw pounds of seeds on your ex-lawn. Do it in Winter. Rake them down in a bit if you can, just to keep the birds from eating it.
That’s it.
