Motor scooters (sometimes called mopeds or go peds) are commonly purchased for use by children and teenagers, most of whom do not even possess a valid license to drive. However there is a whole new breed of scooters that have hit the market. Due to their size, fuel-efficiency, weight, and typically larger storage room than a motorcycle, they are ideal for teens. However with the recent spike in gas prices, adults are also looking into scooters as a fuel efficient alternative. They are an active way to not only get around but also have fun outside. The popularity of this type of vehicle will only continue to grow as gas prices soar and many are enjoying it everyday. Scooters are a fun and easy way to get around and enjoy not only the outdoors but also traveling almost anywhere. They are quite easily maneuvered, and can be turned left, right, up, down, and even completely around without trouble. Scooters are a breeze to drive, maneuver, and park, so no matter what your size or body type they are suitable. They are very easy to ride, and tend to be small enough to dodge traffic, making them great in cities. Scooters are still easier to drive than motorcycles in that there are no gears to shift and all the controls are at your fingertips.
Because most rear-wheel drive scooters are intended to negotiate more rugged terrain, they are usually equipped with rear anti-tips to support the scooter on hills. Because of the motor and wheel configuration, front-wheel drive scooters are usually direct-drive units, eliminating chains and belts. Conversely, rear-wheel drive scooters are powered by motors connected to the rear axle, either via a chain, a belt, a trans -axle unit, or some combination.
Gas
Gas powered scooters are more powerful, allowing the driver to travel further distances away from home. Although there has been an upturn in electric models, due to gas prices. Gas scooters and electric scooters are affordable making them the perfect alternative for short trips, local commutes, and a variety of sporting and recreational activities. Gas prices drive scooter sales. Gas powered scooters are lightweight and are generally thought of as a practical means of transportation. Gas powered scooters are built to offer faster speeds and a higher level of power than other types of scooters. For either recreation or transportation, electric scooters offer major advantages over gas-powered scooters: Electric scooters are allowed on public transit (bus/train/plane); gas-powered scooters are prohibited. Electric motors provide quick starts and hill-climbing without the delay of gas engine “ramp up”. Motor scooters, both electric scooters and gas scooters, are a style of motorcycle that have a step through frame and have become a very popular method of travel all over the world.
Price
Prices are as low as $1,000, down from twice that, as cheaper scooters from Asia flood the market. Prices are quite reasonable, and the scooters cost almost nothing to operate. Higher end scooters can go as high as $8000 and can hit speeds of over 70 mph.
Conclusion
As fuel prices soar, motorcycles and scooters are more becoming more visible on city and suburban streets. Do your homework and some comparison shopping before buying. All in all they are a great investment and can only gain value to society as energy prices soar. Happy scootering!

Should i start out on a belt-drivin or direct-drive turntables?
im a beginner and im thinking of buying turntables and a mixer for a new hobby, i herd that the belt-drivin turntables are cheaper but they do not scratch well. And i also herd that direct drive turntables r more expensive but are much better.
go with direct drive for sure. belt driven tables suck major balls. thats what i learned on and it was very frustrateing. the plate bobs around like no other, which skips the needle around.
