10 Great Reasons to Love Your Food Processor
Do you have a new food processor or an old one that you never use? Well, now is the time to set one up in your kitchen. Food processor recipes are the easiest recipes to make, and the recipes are so tasty that you will never need to reveal how simple and fast they are to make. I love my large food processor, and I highly recommend them to everyone I know. In fact, I have a small one for quick chopping as well. In case you need some ideas, here is my list of favorite food processor recipes.
1. Sometimes I need bread crumbs for a recipe, so I grab the giant bag of croutons that I buy at a warehouse store and have tasty bread crumbs in seconds. It might sound simple, but it is the fastest and easiest way to have bread crumbs fast.
2. With some rice crackers, I can make a finely chopped crumb mixture to add to ground turkey, ground pork, onions, hoisin sauce, bell peppers, ginger, soy sauce, and other ingredients. With a little imagination, not to mention a couple of eggs and some salt, I can form meat loaves with their own unique flavors and bake them to perfection.
3. For fresh lemon sherbet, mix equal amounts sugar, milk, and half-and-half with freshly grated lemon rind and some lemon juice. Then pour into a pan and freeze it, covering it for at least two hours. After frozen, use your food processor to blend it until smooth. Four hours in the freezer later, you have a wonderful dessert to go with anything you can cook up!
4. Specialty butters are definitely a favorite of mine. In fact, I get ideas from many restaurants, constantly seeking new flavors to spread across bread. Armed with my food processor, making specialty butter has never been so easy. My favorite is basil-garlic butter. By processing a stick of butter with a couple cloves of garlic, I can then add some crushed basil leaves and let it sit in the fridge for a week or so in an air-tight container. Then, it’s French bread and wine for dinner. Sometimes I even use it on grilled cheese with mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and bacon. So delicious!
5. Want to make a great hollandaise sauce in a short amount of time? Take ¾ cup of butter and melt it. Then take three egg yolks, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon water, and a teaspoon of Dijon mustard and mix on high in your food processor, slowing adding the melted butter. Add a bit more lemon juice, some cayenne, and some salt to taste, blending well, and store the mixture for 30 minutes.
6. I am a huge fan of chocolate, and my food processor allows me to take melted chocolate chips, some tofu, salt, 3 egg whites, half a cup of sugar, and a quarter cup of water and turn it into a light, chocolaty masterpiece. My chocolate mousse is a favorite amongst all of my friends, and can be topped with either grated chocolate, whipped topping, or both!
7. Want something easy? Slice up some grapes, cooked chicken, and pickle with a small food processor and put them in chicken salad for an amazing delightful lunch.
8. Dips are also easy to make in a food processor. For a good healthy dip, combine a couple cups of cooked edamame, half a cup of water, a quarter cup chopped red onion, a bit of fresh cilantro, a couple tablespoons of rice vinegar, one tablespoon olive oil, and half a teaspoon of salt, a bit of chili garlic sauce, and a can of cannelloni beans. Once processed until smooth, this dip can be served immediately or placed in a refrigerator to chill. Over the years, this dip has become the most important food substance at any of my parties.
9. Another great idea is to take blackberries and sugar, blending them with your food processor until they’re smooth. Then, pour the mixture through a strainer into a pan and stir in some buttermilk. When frozen, break into chucks and beat with an electric mixer until smooth again, and then pour it back into a pan and cover it until firm. This is a great way to make a cold, berry concoction that the whole family will love, especially on hot summer days. And you can substitute blueberries or raspberries as well!
10. One of my favorite uses for a food processor is making soup when I’ve had a hard day. Some chopped onion, garlic, milk, a bit of flour, chicken broth, broccoli, cheese, and pepper can be easily put together to make an excellent meal. After sautéing the onions and garlic, add all ingredients except milk and flour and cheese, cooking over medium heat for 10 minutes. Afterward, combine with milk and flour and cook an additional 5 minutes, then let cool while adding cheese until it melts. Place in a food processor, and you have smooth, creamy broccoli-cheese soup that can relieve any stress-filled day.

How do you remove clove resin from a plastic appliance?
I needed ground cloves for a pumpkin pie recipe and the store didn’t have it, so I already had whole cloves. I thought that if I ground them up in my coffee grinder real fine that would do the trick. It worked great for the recipe, but it left a resin inside my coffee grinder lid. It doesn’t come off when soaked in hot, soapy water. Does anyone know how to remove it without using turpentine or some other toxic chemical?
Try soaking it in vinegar.
