How To Get A Good Deal On A Used Car

Whenever you’re in the market to buy a used car, it’s important to try to get the best possible price. A lot of people aren’t aware that they can negotiate with a used car salesman, so they just pay the price that is asked. But you can actually save hundreds of dollars just by using these simple tactics.

First, realize that the price you see on the sticker is rarely set in stone. The vast majority of the time you will be able to negotiate for a better price. The used car business is extremely competitive, and they will often negotiate with you to make sure they get your business.

Never act like you like a car as much as you really do. You should act rather nonchalant; like you aren’t completely sure the car is right for you. Once they know you really like a car, they won’t be as willing to negotiate.

Be sure to point out any flaws you see in the vehicle. Things like scratches in the paint, cigarette burns in the upholstery, stains in the carpet, and rust should be mentioned. Anything you can do to let them know the car isn’t as good as they say it is will show them you know what you’re doing.

Prepare yourself before you enter negotiations. If you need to, tell them sales person you will be back another time. You can go home and find out the Kelley Blue Book value of the car you want to buy, and then you will be more prepared to negotiate for an appropriate price.

If you can’t find out a lot of information about the car you’re interested in buying, you could visit a car forum and ask around. The people at most car forums are very knowledgeable, and will usually be able to give you advice. They are quite experienced with car themes, and love to help people out.

The more informed you are, the easier it will be for you to negotiate the best price for your car. Being prepared could save you several hundred dollars off the price, and it only takes a minimal amount of time to research the model.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do when negotiating the price of a new car is to be prepared to walk away. Don’t fall so much in love with a particular car that you can’t walk away if the sales person refuses to negotiate on the price.

Most of the time, simply threatening to leave will cause the sales person to rethink the situation. Sometimes you may actually have to start walking away if they won’t work with you. And remember, if you can’t talk them into working with you at all, there are dozens more used car dealerships in your area that would be thrilled to have your business.

In The Movie, “THE USUAL SUSPECTS”…………..?

I watched USUAL SUSPECTS a long time a go and enjoyed it a lot. Then I watched it again for free (Comcast ON DEMAND) and it raised some questions.

1. Anyway, Verbal (Kevin Spacey) is Kaiser Sose. But it seems as though he was in cahoots with “Kobayashi” whose actual name we do not know. Verbal calls him Kobayashi but we know that is a fake name he made up from the coffee mug.

2. But, who did the killings at the pier? It seems as though Verbal killed Hockney — but did he also kill MacManis? It seems as though it was Kobayashi who was killing people inside the boat and that he killed MacManis.

3. But just before MacManis fell and died on the boat, he said he had seen strange things. Could it be he saw Verbal walking normally before Verbal struck him? But how, and yet you never see Verbal in the boat?

4. Anyway, since Kobayashi and Verbal drive away together at the end, they were in cahoots.

Someone clear the fog here.

1. Yes
2. Verbal/Kaiser made sure they were all dead
3. Imagine what you will–some people say strange things with a knife in their back
4. Yes

All aspects of the movie that we saw are “suspect”–the bad guy is telling a story to get himself away from the law–NOTHING he said can be taken as actually happening that way. The only thing that may have been right was that a bunch of people died on a boat–that’s the beauty of this film.

He was intelligent enough to weave enough truth into his story to keep it believable, but made up enough to hold the attention long enough to get out.

Love it.
