An Introduction to Compact Tractors
Compact tractors are used in situations where larger, bulkier tractors would not be the best equipment or vehicle for the job. Need to remove the steering wheel from our 214 JD Lawn Tractor – how do I get it off?
Steering wheel on our 214 JD Garden Tractor broke. When attempting to pull it off, it broke into many pieces. Still has the middle firmly entrenched on the post. How can I get it off? Is it splined? Hidden screws? What?
The splined steering wheel hub should pull off fairly easily.
Chances are good that it has rusted in place to some degree. To loosen the hold the rust has on the parts, try using a penetrating oil like “Liquid Wrench”. Tapping it lightly with a hammer can also sometimes break the rust bond.
If all else fails, you may need to buy a gear puller tool to get the job done.
