Things To Consider When Purchasing Used Trailers Online
The particularly good thing about purchasing used equipment or a used trailer online is that if you do things properly you can often land yourself a great value, money saving deal. My trailer lights dont work?
Lights on my 2009 cargo trailer dont work. This is what happend, Last week when I opened the ramp door, some of the electrical cables got tangled with door spring and came apart. I pluged all the cables back together but now the seem to work again… All of the fuses on my truck are good.
I’ve tried evertyhing and nothing works!!
I forgot to mention. The only thing that works are my brake lights.
trace back all your wires you are having a problem with, this includes the ground. Check for 12v power to the lights. If you dont have power, something else came apart/broke. If you lights are run through the trailer frame you may want to re-wire it if you are wire inclined. Best and easiest thing to do is get a tester if you dont already have one and check for power. Also make sure you didnt damage the wires going into the lights.
Best bet is to check your wiring as best as you can to find a break in the circuit. Check your grounds especially, your brake lights still may work even if your ground is bad, they just may appear dim but nothing else will work. If you cant find anything wrong with your trailer wiring, look at the connections and your trucks wiring. Also, is it possible you didn’t put the broken wires back together correctly? Its rare but there may be an in-line fuse hidden some where in the trailer light harness on the truck, just poke around your bound to find something as it can only be so many things….good luck.
