Midsize SUVs are proven to be more reliable compared to sedans and minivans on rough roads. The versatility of midsize SUVs in both road and off-road driving gives them an edge.
Midsize SUVs are also more convenient to use compared to large SUVs if the size of your family is only average. It is more fuel efficient and can be maneuvered more easily. Out of the 35 recognized models in this class, the VW Touareg and Land Rover LR3 are ideal for middle class families because they are considerably more affordable. The prices of these two do not also vary much from each other. The price of the Touareg ranges from $39,000 – $48,000 while the cost of LR3 is around $45,975.
The chilton repair manual states that the 2009 Volkswagen Touareg is a five-passenger 4-door wagon type vehicle that comes with a 4-wheel drive system. Its 3.6 liter V6 engine produces around 280 horsepower, while the V8 engine version has 350 HP. What is new for the 2009 Touareg is its TDI which has a capacity of 221-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. It also has a 6-speed transmission system. In addition, the Touareg has a 4wheel drive system which is very much dedicated for extreme off-road experience.
Safety precautions include an ABS, traction control, anti-skid system, front airbags, and side airbags. The maximum towing capacity of the Touareg is 7716lbs. Its key features include power liftgate, obstacle detection for both front and rear, and power drive seat. The size of the wheels is 20inches. The Touareg was manufactured with Porsche and the design was inspired by Audi Q7 large SUV.
On the other hand, the Land Rover LR3 is also a revised model but nothing much has been changed from the previous one. You can see this in chilton auto repair manual. It is a five-seat vehicle which has a 3rd row bench that allows 2 more passengers to ride in. The engine is a 4.4 liter V8 engine which can produce 300 horsepower. It has the same towing capacity with the Touareg. Likewise, it is also a dedicated off-roader that is built for rough or muddy terrain. Most of its safety and internal features are also the same with those seen on the Chevrolet Repair Manual for the Touareg.
These two vehicles are similar in a lot of aspects. Looking at them will also tell you that there are not so many differences between the two. These two are both good SUVs for their class. However, series of driving tests proved that the VW Touareg excels over the LR3. The road tests that have been done include acceleration, ride quality, steering, handling, breaking, quietness, controls, details, and driving comfort. The overall result gave it to the Touareg which garnered a rating of 69 out of 110 compared to the score of 64 of the LR3. The road tests have been conducted by Consumer Guide automotive.

i got a r33 gts, its not even a turbo skyline, can it seems to skid all over the place in rainy weather..i dun even wanna imagine driving a turbo skyline in rainy conditions ay
The skylines were notorius for being light in the arse end, more so in the wet. Although tires would also play a big part. Throttle control plays a bigger part. Happy drifting!
