Porsche Panamera
The Porsche Panamera is a four-door concept car that is streamlined to excellence and perfection for creating a masterpiece. Are the cheap super/turbo chargers for Cavaliers on Ebay a rip off?
I went on ebay, and found tons of them for under $50. Are they a complete rip off or what? All other sites have them at 2.5k+.
I would not buy a turbocharger that cost under $50. The chance that there is something poorly designed about the housing or turbine is very high with that low of a cost. There are really only 4 parts to a turbocharger. The housing, the rotor (or turbine) the bearings and the shaft. The shafts and bearings are probably the most reliable, although you can find a cheap anything if you are trying to cut costs. The rotor design, the housing design and the fitment are where you will have the most issues. Often, the housings poorly made or created from cheap alloys will not stand up to the heat and vibration seen at the exhaust of your engine.
With all that said, you could easily try one of the cheap turbos. The rest of the system would not have to change if you were to buy one that was a knock off of a common format. Most of what you probably see for the Cavalier is a t3/t4 configuration. The housings should not vary significantly. If your $50 turbo blows up, you can easily buy a quality piece from Garrett and bolt it right into where it should have been since the install.
